Castelnaud-la-Chapelle on the Dordogne is a wonderful medieval castle set on a hill top facing the river and its arch enemy during the 100 years war Château de Beynac.
The castle has been wonderfully restored and now has a museum of medieval warfare, featuring full size reconstructions of siege engines, mangonneaux, and trebuchets. A really great place to take the kids for a day out and only an hour away....

Bergerac in the late summer sun. Bergerac is a lovely historic town with lots to see itself and a great place to base yourself to explore this wonderful area of France. The town is surrounded by vineyards and in easy reach of many lovely historic chateaus and bastide towns, so typical of the region.
It has an airport with lots of cheap flights many destinations throughout the UK and the Netherlands, putting it in easy reach for a summer holiday or a long weekend at any time of the year....

Monteton is a lovely hill top village overlooking the Dropt valley in the Lot-et-Garonne. There lot's goes on in the summer like a hat fair; vide grenier/brocante (car boot/antique fair) and evening cook outs.

The beautiful old harbour of Kyrenia with its ancient castle, excellent harbourside restaurants and bars. Catch a boat trip here or arrange scuba diving, tandem paragliding or other activity.
During the day, the harbour bustles with activity, but by night it transforms into a fairyland of lamps provided by the many restaurants and bars. You must spend at least one evening here sampling the local food in this most romantic of settings....
